Kelly Osbourne Lost Weight Hula Hooping

Kelly Osbourne joins the list of celebrities who are spinning up hooping for health and weight loss. The Daily Mail reports Osbourne has been slender for awhile now, but seems to be losing even more inches to her small frame thanks to the hoop. Osbourne recently tweeted, “I’m all about Hula-hooping right now! 5mins in the morning 5 mins at night… in 5 days I lost 2 inches from my waistline!”

kelly osbourne hooping-2In addition to making conscious lifestyle changes, she has been hooping about ten minutes a day, which is combined with her running, yoga, and strength training. At first Kelly wasn’t sure about hooping, but she came around. She says, “I’m not going to lie: I went into this thinking it was going to be embarrassing and monotonous, but I couldn’t have been more wrong! Hula hooping for fitness is brilliant. It’s a challenging workout (you use a weighted hoop) with a playfulness that makes you want to keep going.”

Like most hula hoopers, Kelly encourages hooping in both directions. She explains, “The first time I tried it, I only hooped in one direction, and my back started to hurt. Once I started to hoop in both directions (go for about five minutes one way, then switch), the pain went away.” Another tip she offers: “The more I relax my shoulders, the more arm muscles I have to use, which helps me get a full-body workout.”

Kelly’s most important advice is about attitude though. She says, “People think I got happy because I lost weight. No! I got happy, and as a result, I lost weight.”
