Hoopy Happenings 2014 – Its a Wrap!

Hoopy Happenings 2014

I’m incredibly fortunate to have participated at this years Hoopy Happenings Event at Heathcote over the weekend – A workshop filled hooping event and jam packed, full of fun and good times set in the beautiful tranquil bush at Heathcoate Scout Camp.

It was my first ever Hoopy Happenings and I was completely blown away by the amount of effort that Jewelz, Lisa and Les put into these hoop events repeatedly each year. The line up of international teachers was incredible starting off the weekend with some ‘balancing’ with Anton Mackman which taught us all the ins and outs one could possibly put up their sleeves on how to balance just about any object on different parts of the body. Anton then showed us how to juggle which was quite challenging – Juggling hoops would be a pretty cool thing to master!

The incredible Brecken Rivera showed us how to navigate the floor with the hoop and roll around on the floor as we manipulate the hoop – such a beautiful expressive way to dance with the hoop as were grounded on the floor. The amazing Tiana Zoumer wowed us with her body rolls and minis workshop – Anton’s balancing workshop came in handy for this one as we were taught to balance the hoop on our hand before rolling it across our chest.

The incredible Ange Mack taught us multi hoops and Emma Kenna gave us her famous ‘Crotch Extravaganza’ workshop where we mastered how to use our crotch to swing the hoop around and even elevate it up into halo! Pretty impressive stuff!

The vegetarian meals catered by Govinda’s were a real treat – I was especially blessed to meet an amazing amount of radiant hoopers as we were all brought together to learn and embrace the beautiful art of hoop dance. Each morning was bliss with yoga sessions by the wonderful Jane Fondell

My every ounce of gratitude goes out to Jewelz and ALL of the team involved in making Hoopy Happenings a reality for us. For all new hoopers out there, I highly recommend it. You will learn a tonne!
