Hoopurbia is a 5-day annual event held in a new city each year that brings together dancers, musicians and artists from every corner of the globe to celebrate hoop dance as a contemporary art form, through workshops, performances, video shoots, dance parties, discussions, and networking opportunities.
You will undergo a process of transformation at this event in dance, yoga and hoop classes every day with three world-class teachers. The curriculum is completely cohesive and interwoven. Hoopers will leave as dancers, dancers will leave as hoopers. Art is infused into this event through both participation and observation of both professional and amature performance.
You will have the opportunity to get experience in front of the camera, and if you are comfortable in front of the camera, you may potentially leave with a lot of new footage! You will meet dancers, hoopers, and musicians from around the world, and together exchange and create art, that is interdisciplinary, avant-guard, and fresh.

HERE’S HOW TO WIN
Step 1. Video entry: Create a video under 2 minutes:
Answer the following questions:
- What is your name and where are you from?
- Are you a dancer, a musician, an artist, a hooper? What is your craft?
- Why do you want to come to Hoopurbia?
- How would becoming a Hoopurbian change your life, and help you on your creative path?
THEN submit a demo of your most authentic FLOW hooping and/or dancing.
We’ll be checking out your technique and the originality of the way you move, and authenticity. We’ll also be checking out your outfit, the backdrop you choose, the camera angles. Make it a piece of art!
Step 2: Upload your video to your youtube account and make it public with the following title and description. Cut and paste, verbatim:
